In a bustling city lived a hardworking, honest, and virtuous young man. His parents, siblings, friends, and relatives all loved him dearly. From neighbors to colleagues, everyone respected him because he was always ready to help others. Everything in his life seemed good, yet the success he dreamed of achieving remained miles away from his grasp.
Day and night, he worked tirelessly with complete dedication, but failure was all he ever encountered. His entire life passed this way, and eventually, he departed from the cycle of life and merged into the eternal cycle of time.
Because he had performed good deeds during his lifetime, he was granted entry to heaven. Angels escorted him to the celestial realm. Witnessing the divine beauty of heaven, he was mesmerized and asked the angel, “What is this place?”
“This is heaven. Your good deeds have earned you a place here. From now on, this will be your home,” the angel replied.
Hearing this, the young man was overjoyed. The angel showed him the house where he would be living—a magnificent mansion unlike anything he had ever seen in his earthly life.
The angel took him inside and began showing him each room, one by one. Every chamber was beautiful beyond description. Finally, they arrived at a room with a sign that read “The Dream Chamber.”
When they entered that room, the young man was stunned to see countless small replicas of various objects arranged there. These were the very things he had worked his entire life to obtain but had never achieved—a luxurious home, a car, a high-ranking position, and many other things that had remained only in his dreams.
He began to wonder: I dreamed of these things in the earthly world, but I never obtained them there. Why are these miniature replicas kept here now? Unable to contain his curiosity, he blurted out, “All of this… here… like this… what’s the reason behind it?”
The angel explained, “During their lifetime, humans dream many dreams and wish for them to come true. But they are truly serious about only a few of those dreams and actually try to fulfill them. God and the universe prepare to fulfill every dream a person has. However, sometimes discouraged by repeated failures and sometimes lacking firm determination, people give up their efforts at the very moment when their dreams are about to come true. Those unfulfilled dreams are kept here in the form of replicas. Your dreams are also stored here as replicas. Had you not given up until the very end, you would have achieved them in your lifetime.”
The young man understood the mistake he had made during his life. But after death, there was nothing he could do about it now.
Dear friends, before working toward fulfilling any dream, make a firm resolution: No matter how many difficulties arise, no matter how many times you face failure, you will keep striving toward your dreams until they become reality. Otherwise, when time has passed, you’ll be left with the regret: “If only I had tried a little harder.” Don’t let your dreams remain incomplete. Transform them into reality through unwavering determination and relentless effort—that’s when you can truly rest.
